Besides Markel's version for Okeh, also here in these very archives, there was this version recorded for Brunswick on November 1 of '22. Another tune written by Nacio Herb Brown,
called "The Hoodoo Man," had a very similar melodic structure: there is a recording of that in these archives also, and you can listen to them both to hear the similarity.
This version is more polished compared to Markel's, and also has a "laughing trumpet" that shows itself here and there. The record from which this was sampled was in very nice shape; some crackle needed to be removed, but
that was all.
