Ben Selvin's orchestra is playing here under an assumed name - something they did often in the mid 20's - on an energetic rendition recorded for the Domino record label on April 16, 1926. George Olsen, the bandleader over at Victor,
co-wrote this tune with Eddie Kilfeather and Fran Frey, two members of his orchestra (piano and alto sax/vocals respectively). The tune must have been a fairly decent hit as it was recorded by many orchestras - Olsen's band and several others
including the Golden Gate Orchestra, Bob Haring, the Melody Sheiks, the Broadway Bellhops, and the Windsor Hotel Orchestra (thanks to "Rocky" for the info). Arthur Hall does the vocal here, getting a little pugnacious but not unmusically so.
The record itself was in nice shape, despite a slightly "hissy" surface, and after some EQ to improve the pinched tone of the early electric process it emerges as a very nice-sounding sample.
