by Joseph Knecht and his Waldorf Astoria Orchestra
This modest hit from 1921 was written by Ted Snyder, Francis Wheeler, and Harry B. Smith (the same trio that gave us the early 20s classic "The Sheik of Araby"). Okeh released two versions of this tune: a vocal version by Lewis
James, and this instrumental version by Knecht's Orchestra recorded in October of that year. The band plays this like conservative hotel bands played everything in 1921, so don't look for any solos, but they worked like a well-oiled
machine and deliver accordingly. The recording, as usual for Okeh, was quite good for the vintage and kept the bite of the trumpets. The record was in very good condition and only needed the occasional click or pop removed.
