One of the more popular tunes from 1922, judging from the large number of people who performed it on record (the version by Nora Bayes has been in the archives
for some time), this song by Roy Turk and J.R. Robinson is given a shot of adrenalin by Arthur Lange's band. They were one of the house-bands at Cameo Records, and they recorded this side on August 22
of 1922. The arrangement was a few years ahead of its time - it's a brisk two-beat rhythm they play here, unlike the slower four-beat that was very popular in the early 20s, and as a result pre-saged
the Charleston. The fact that this record has been played hard in its time has not deterred from its enjoyability - some judicious filtering in the higher frequencies has helped take a lot of the crackle
out and keep the original fidelity intact.
