Haven't been able to find out much about these guys, other than the fact that they recorded two sides for Gennett on August 24 of 1923. Instrumentation is similar to the All-Star Trio (consisting of saxophone, xylophone,
and piano) which had proven commercial success over at Victor and it recorded well using the acoustic method. The tune was written by Cliff Dixon and Bob Carleton (the same pair that wrote "Where the Blues were Born in New
Orleans"). Vernon Dalhart sings the vocal, and it's one of his better ones. The record had been kicked around a little, but under the static was a good performance and some judicious noise reduction tamed the worst of the
noise. The other side, "Last Night on the Back Porch," is pretty good too and I may post that here someday.
