"She Wouldn't Do What I Asked Her To"

by the Lucky Strike Orchestra

Obscure, but quite a tasty arrangement and a rather suprising turn of lyric for a mid-20's jazz record. It's an especially good acoustic recording, sounding well-balanced and undistorted, released on the Oriole label around 1925. It is not known if this is B.A. Rolfe's Lucky Strike Orchestra (who made lots of records for Edison from 1925 on) or if it is simply a label's pseudonym for a house band, but if it is not Rolfe on the trumpet it is someone of similar talent and verve. Some confirmation one way or the other by e-mail would be most welcome. The vocal is by the incorrigible John Ryan who served as a studio singer for various labels throughout the mid-20's.
