This serious waltz song was recorded on August 11 of 1926 for Edison Labs. The performers, Ethel and Dorothea Ponce, would go on to make some legendary jazz sides with Eddie Lang and Joe Venuti.
This was the fourth side that the Ponce Sisters made in their career. It is also their last acoustic side, as the next time they went into the recording studio it would be in front of microphones instead of horns. The song
was written by Lou Davis and Henry Santly (who together co-wrote "Sitting Pretty in a Pretty Little City") with Herman Ackman (who only seems to have co-written this one song). Edison recorded this song twice, the second version
being a pipe-organ recording by Frederick Kinsley in January of 1927. The record had been played, but on good equipment so the groove wear was minimal. Disc rumble was the only noise to remove.
