"Oh! They're Such Nice People"

by Furman and Nash

Sheet Music Cover courtesy of the Lester Levy Collection This amusing song, written by Lew Brown and J. Brandon Walsh in 1921, is about a clueless guest who is unaware that his hosts are trying to murder him at every turn. It is energetically sung by Ed Furman and Bill Nash, a Vaudeville duet that flourished briefly in the early 20's. The Columbia disk from which this was sampled, recorded in May of 1921, was well-loved in its time but it is much more listenable after noise reduction treatment. (The lyrics of this song have been thoughtfully provided on-line by Froggy's Novelty Song Lyric Collection.)
