by Frank Farrell and His Greenwich Village Inn Orchestra
Recorded for the Plaza Group in July of 1927, released on both the Romeo and Cameo labels, this hot little tune from Benny Davis and Harry Akst (who also wrote "Baby Face" and "First, Last and Always") was done up nicely by this
relatively obscure orchestra. Frank Farrell was the pianist in Billy Wynne's band (who made many records for Edison) and either took over when Wynne left or temporarily headed the band when they recorded for other labels. Intelligent
email on this subject is welcome, and also regarding the identity of the uncredited vocalist. The disc from which this sample came had some crackle and hiss, so noise reduction was brought in to smooth it out a bit. The results are
worth the trouble.
