On the first of November, 1918, this quartet of New York's Finest visited Edison's recording studio for a second time (the first time was in September of that year) but not to cite the Labs for disturbing the peace - it
was to make records. They waxed three tunes total, only two of which were released: this is one side of their only issued record. They lack the fine polish of a professional quartet, being policemen first and singers second,
which makes the recording that much more interesting. The tune, written by Lew Porter (who also wrote "She Didn't Say Yes, She Didn't Say No"), was the sort of song that flourished on the heels of World War One about
romances between American soldiers and French women. The song didn't get much exposure which makes the tune just as obscure as the group. The record from which this was sampled just needed rumble removed and that was all.
