"Can You Tame Wild Wimmin?"

by Jack Norworth

Sheet Music Cover courtesy of Historic American Sheet Music The man who co-wrote Vaudeville classics such as "Shine On Harvest Moon", "Abba Dabba Honeymoon", and "Take Me Out To The Ballgame", had a second career as a performer. He recorded this song (written by his friend and cohort Harry Von Tilzer, with lyrics by Andrew B. Sterling) for Pathe in 1918. The subject matter, the irrascibility of the married woman, is as eternal as marraige itself - the humor has not tarnished with time. Time has also been somewhat kind to the recorded performance - some disc noise is obvious in the beginning, typical for Pathe discs, but it gets better as the song progresses.
