On June 22 of 1927, Sam Lanin's band recorded this for the Plaza Records group. It was released on the Cameo and Romeo labels, with this sample coming from the Cameo issue. He and his band recorded this same exact tune one
day later for the Harmony label, under the pseudonym of "the Westerners" (you can hear a sample of that record over at RedHotJazz.com). The song was
written by Sammy Fain and Irving Kahal (co-wrote many songs together including "Two Little Flies on a Lump of Sugar," "You Brought A New Kind of Love To Me," and "I Can Dream, Can't I?") along with Addy Britt (co-wrote "Where's
My Sweetie Hiding?"). The arrangement features a nice clarinet solo toward the end of the side. The uncredited vocalist is Harold "Scrappy" Lambert (thanks to Luis for that information), and the trumpet work is probably by Tommy
Gott or Mannie Klein. The record had been played a number of times so there was a fair amount of groove noise. It has been reduced without disturbing the music.
