Tommie Malie (co-wrote "Stars are the Windows of Heaven"), Doug Finch (also co-wrote "Where's My Sweetie Hiding" with Malie), and Jack Little (otherwise known as "Little Jack Little", a radio pioneer who co-wrote "Jealous" and
led a band in through the 30s) wrote this merry tune in 1924. Fletcher Henderson did a version of this song for Banner, Billy Murray did a vocal version for Victor, and this was the version recorded for Cameo on March 31 of '24.
The trumpet player is unknown, but he's doing great things with the plunger on this record - it's the highlight of the piece. Another interesting touch, especially for an acoustic record, is the fake fade-out at the end: this may
have been the first time that was done in a recording studio (intelligent input on this point is welcome). The record was visually in better shape than Cameos are usually found in, but it had been played a few times so there was
some crackle to deal with. A few passes with the click filter made for a very listenable sample.
