Written for the second Marx Brothers' musical "Cocoanuts" (which played for nearly a year when it opened on Broadway in December of 1925 - see the IBDB
for details), this piece by Irving Berlin was a minor hit of its own. This was the version that banjo-maestro Harry Reser and his band recorded for Edison Labs on January 6 of 1926. It is one of many hot dance sides that Reser waxed
for Edison and features some very tasty solos. Highlights are the trumpet solo and the "duck call" obligato near the end. It's a merry recording. This particular disc didn't get played very much so it was in great condition. Rumble
removal was all that was needed.
