Recorded for the obscure "Dandy" label in 1925, this tune was written by George W. Meyer with Alfred Bryan (co-wrote many songs together including "The High Cost of Loving" and "Beautiful Annabell Lee"), and it was a sizable
hit. Arthur Fields, popular during World War One but gradually more obscure afterward, performs very well here on this record: the label gives a different name, but it is definitely him. The engineers must have used the wrong
horn for his voice since it is noticably thinner-sounding than the band behind him which was recorded pretty well for an acoustic disc. The record had hardly been played at all, making a very smooth surface. Noise reduction was limited to hiss and occasional clicks.
