"My Dream of the Baseball Park"

by Arthur Fields

On the label of this Grey Gull release, Arthur is simply listed as "Mr. Fields," a pun that doesn't really disguise his identity. This is an unusual disc, in that it is poetic recitation much like "Casey at the Bat," and not a regular song as one might expect. Those familiar with the roster of a certain East Coast baseball team in 1928, the year this was recorded, will recognize the names that Arthur weaves into the story. It's a great listen. The disc has not been played too much though it is an early electrical recording, and sounds a bit "pinched" as a result, so some EQ has been applied to smooth it out a little.
