"Pre-Depression Everly Brothers" would be the best way to describe this pair of blind musicians who sang on radio through the late 20's and early 30's. This is one of the earliest of many sides they recorded for Brunswick, being waxed in May of 1927. The song
is easily recognized as a reworking of the traditional standard "Red River Valley". The recorded performance suffers from some distortion due to the early electric recording process, plus a few scratches, but after some EQ and noise reduction there is some improvement.
It's a neat little disc. (A brief bio about them can be found
at 1932 WLS site, and their complete Brunswick discography is listed at
"Hillbilly Music.com".)
