Charlie Fry led the "house band" at Atlantic City's newest attraction in the mid-20s, the "million dollar pier" which was built to replace the "municipal pier" which was damaged during a hurricane in 1921. The new pier
would stand for a little over 40 years. This tune was recorded while the pier was being built, two years before the grand opening, on September 15 of 1924 for Edison Labs. The tune was written by Art Kahn, a bandleader
during the early 20s, and Vic Berton who played drums in Art Kahn's band at the time. The arrangement is still fairly conservative, as Edison releases tended to be, but you could tell that the atmosphere was loosening
up a little compared to the years before. The recording was supurb, and the disc was in very nice shape only needing some rumble removed.
