Along with the duo Van and Schenck, these guys were a "missing link" between Collins and Harlan (Vaudeville) and the Happiness Boys (radio). They were not as popular as their talents might suggest, but they were memorable for choosing songs with a
bizarre "twist" to the lyric - this is a good example, recorded for Columbia in January of 1923. The song had been written by Howard Johnson (co-wrote "Where Do We Go From Here"), Abel Baer (co-wrote "Lucky Lindy"), and Ira Schuster (co-wrote "Shout
Wherever You May Be - I Am An American"), and it seems to have been tailor-made for Eddie Furman and Bill Nash's ascorbic delivery. The record was nearly played to death, but some vigorous noise reduction has cleaned it up and made it presentable
once again.
