One of the more prolific orchestra leaders in the early and mid-1920s, Ben Selvin recorded this for Brunswick on November 19 of 1926. The tune was written by Benny Davis (wrote the lyrics for "Margie" and
"I'm Nobody's Baby"), Harry Akst (who co-composed the evergreens "Dinah" and "Baby Face"), and Harry Richman (known mostly as an entertainer, now obscure, and co-author of the evergreen "Walkin' My Baby Back Home"). The
vocalist is Ben Selvin himself (thanks to Rick Selvin for that info) though the label gives no hint. The record had been played some, so there was some static to tame, but once that was handled with noise reduction it became
very presentable.
