The man who first recorded the "Cohen At the Telephone" sketch for Columbia made many more "Cohen" records between 1914 and 1926, this one being one of the earliest of his many sequals. The recording date for Columbia disc is
uncertain, as is the location (London or NY?), but London in 1914 is a good guess. The basic theme is similar to other monologs that Hayman recorded, and while it does not have the constant misunderstood words that made the original
"Cohen" a masterpiece it is a good sequal. While one is listening one must be aware that this recording reflects the sensibilities that were in place at that time, and are certainly not intended to insult anyone living or dead. The
record itself had been played a few times, but with good equipment, so regular noise reduction removed some crackle and rumble was all that was needed.
