Here was Zez Confrey's other major hit besides "Kitten on the Keys", if the frequency of recording is any indication: every major label at the time had at least one recording of this tune. This was Edison's version, recorded by
the anonymous and generic Broadway Dance Orchestra on December 7 of 1922. Irving Berlin is listed as co-author on this song, which makes this a one-time collaboration between the two giants. There are no musical chances taken in
this very conservative arrangement, which was fairly typical of Edison Labs, but the splendor of the recording makes up for it. The record was in nearly perfect condition which only needed rumble and the odd pop removed. (Zez's
own version of this song was recorded for Victor and has been reissued on CD. It can be found at
"Archive Productions".)
